Former East Coweta softball player Dani Morgan and her Florida State teammates are moving on to the College World Series after beating LSU in the third-and-deciding game of the Super Regionals on Saturday.
Morgan went up against another former East Coweta standout, Shemiah Sanchez who plays for LSU.
LSU knocked off Florida State 6-5 in the first game before the Seminoles rallied with two wins, including a dramatic 11-8 victory in 11 innings and a 3-1 decision in the finale .
Morgan had her best showing of the series in the first game against LSU finishing with a 1-for-3 performance and an RBI.
Despite losing the final two contests of the series, Sanchez flexed her offense muscle, including hitting the first grand slam of her collegiate career in the 8-5 loss. She also finished the last game with two hits.
LSU finished with a 45-17 record. Sanchez ended the year hitting .240 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs
FSU heads to the College World Series with a 52-11 record.
Morgan is batting .219 with 13 RBIs.
The College World Series includes Oregon, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Washington, Florida, Georgia, UCLA and Florida State.
The Seminoles will open the double-elimination tournament against UCLA Thursday at 8:30 p.m on ESPN 2.
