Timothy Dwight Cason

A 52-year-old Coweta County man will spend the next 16 years behind bars.

Timothy Dwight Cason was sentenced in Superior Court on eight counts of sexual exploitation of children.

Cason pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 30 years to serve 16 years in prison by Superior Court Judge Travis Sakrison.

He will also serve 14 years on probation and must register as a sex offender once he is released from prison, according to court documents.

According to Coweta County Assistant District Attorney Robert Mooradian, it was a non-negotiated plea.

According to the indictment, Cason knowingly possessed and distributed digital videos and images of lewd conduct between various minors.

Cason was caught during an investigation by members from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children task force, or ICAC.

Investigators discovered a Newnan residence was receiving suspected child pornography through a peer-to-peer sharing network, according to Sgt. Chris Robinson with the Newnan Police Department.

During a subsequent search of his home, Cason reportedly admitted to possessing the images on his computer, but said he would erase them shortly after viewing them, Robinson said in an earlier interview.

The GBI crime lab reportedly found at least 10,000 porngraphic images of children on Cason’s home computer.
