The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m. Therefore, inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hairnets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

Kimble’s Food by Design(Yamaha Plant #2 Cafe), 1000 E Hwy 34,Newnan – was inspected on Feb. 13 and received a score of 89-B. Inspector’s comments: Raw unpasteurized shell eggs stored above green beans and creamed corn. Items were rearranged to place eggs on bottom. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed scoops in the sugar and flour stored with handle touching product. Scoops are to be stored with handles up away from the product. New violation.

La Parrilla Mexican Restaurant, 222 Newnan Crossing Bypass, BLDG 100,  Newnan – was inspected on Feb. 8 and received a score of 82-B. Inspector’s comments: Shell eggs stored on shelf next to peppers. Employee preparing raw chicken with onion stacked next to table and onions on shelf below chicken prep. Onions moved during inspection. Chicken prep also near clean dish storage. Corrected on-site. New violation. Charro beans 125F stored inside warmer with temperature reading 123F. Beans reheated on stove top to 188F. Tamales 122F stored on shelf. Moved to stove for reheating. Reheated to 194F. Corrected on-site. New violation.

McDonald’s, 3190 Hwy 34 E,  Newnan – was inspected on Feb. 13 and received a score of 86-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed papel towel holder in main kitchen area without paper towels and not working properly. Paper towels provided during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed one microwave with food particles present and drink nozzles with black buildup present. New violation.

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, 971 Bullsboro Dr. Newnan – was inspected on Feb. 19 and received a score of 85-B. Inspector’s comments: No paper towels at handwash sink-corrected. Corrected on-site. New violation. Sanitizer weak in wiping cloth buckets. Changed out during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Bistro 745 (Piedmont Newnan Hospital),745 Poplar Rd., Newnan – was inspected on Feb. 22 and received a score of 88-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed unlabeled chemical spray bottle with blue liquid stored at dishmachine with dishes. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed wet wiping cloths on sink prep area. New violation.

Buffalo Wild Wings, 355 Bullsboro Dr., Newnan –  was inspected on Feb. 22 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector’s comments: One box of opened raw chicken stored on the floor in walk-in cooler. Moved during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed wet stacked pans on rack. Stacked to allow air drying during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Canongate at White Oak Clubhouse, 141 Clubview Dr., Newnan –  was inspected on Feb. 20 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed brown sugar, quinoa, and chocolate chips stored twisted down. Food items are to be sealed closed after opening. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed a buildup in microwave. New violation.

Catfish Hauler,40 Deer Creek Trl.,  Moreland – was inspected on Feb. 21 and received a score of 81-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed sinks without water available at the proper temperature. New violation. Observed two of three employees in the mobile unit without hair restraints. New violation.

Checker’s, 1025 Bullsboro Dr., Newnan –  was inspected on Feb. 22 and received a score of 86-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed dried tomato particles on slicer. Blender and milkshake blender in need of cleaning. New violation. No paper towels in either handwashing dispenser. Replaced during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Chick-Fil-A, 5 Glenda Trc., Newnan –  was inspected on Feb. 22 and received a score of 94-A. Inspector’s comments: Buildup on chicken juice at the bottom of thawing cooler behind the fryers. New violation. Buildup on the ice shield in the ice dispenser. New violation.

Church’s Chicken, 20 Hospital Rd., Newnan –  was inspected on Feb. 22 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: Door open to the dumpster. Dumpsters are to remain closed to prevent pests. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Corner Cafe, 1485 Hwy 34 E Ste. 7A, Newnan –  was inspected on Feb. 21 and received a score of 81-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed raw chicken stored beside containers of rice diced onion, and diced vegetables. Moved during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed sticky buildup on equipment such as cooler doors and handles. New violation.

Dynasty Lin, Inc, 34 Bullsboro Dr., Newnan –  was inspected on Feb. 21 and received a score of 90-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed metal pans stored wet. Dishes are to completely dry before stacking. New violation. Buildup on in and on the outside of the microwave. New violation.

Jamaican Delight Caribbean Cuisine, 2235 E Hwy 34, Newnan –  was inspected on Feb. 22 and received a score of 83-B. Inspector’s comments: Food items in the reach-in cooler were not holding at proper cold holding temperatures. Person-in-charge adjusted the cooler and the cooler began cooling down. Corrected on-site. New violation. The inside of the microwave is losing its lining. Microwave is to be replaced to prevent physical contamination of food. New violation.
