After the chaos that Saturday’s NSM rally brought to Newnan, Susan Kraut was forced to reschedule Peace in the Park because of weather.
The event, originally scheduled for April 22 and meant to heal the city, was canceled because of heavy rain. Kraut organized the event.
“It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that we have to postpone today’s healing gathering at the Greenville Street Park,” wrote Kraut on the event’s Facebook page. “Mother Nature has decided to bless us with rain and, unfortunately, the forecast precludes a comfortable experience this evening.”
Peace in the Park was supposed to follow the NSM’s rally.
“Because our mission to unite the healers and peacekeepers in our beautiful community is centered around an ongoing and lasting effort, we feel that it is most beneficial to schedule a new date in the immediate future,” wrote Kraut.
April 29 the new date for the event. It will take place at Greenville Street Park from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Peace in the Park will retain the same details as the original date.
The event will include City Councilwoman Cynthia Jenkins, Tim Smith with the American Legion and Melinda Schmidt, a holistic healer, as guest speakers.
Along with live music, there also will be a “Newnan Rocks” table. Those attending are invited to write inspirational and positive messages on rocks, which then will be hidden around Newnan to be found and passed on.
The event will end with a candlelight vigil and prayer.
