An event weekend is aimed to clear out any negativity from the Greenville Street Park that may linger after last week’s white supremacist rally.
Amanda and Billy Pate are planning to hold a Festival of Doves and Rainbows in the park Saturday from 1-3 p.m.
This week’s wet weather served as an inspiration.
“After last Saturday’s hate event at Greenville Park in Newnan it seemed as if God cleansed the park with the couple days of rain as he did in Noah’s time,” said Amanda Pate. “In the Bible it talks about how after the flood a dove was sent out to see if there was dry land. Once Noah landed there was a rainbow placed in the sky by God. This is why we have named the event Doves and Rainbows.”
While celebrating Newnan’s positivity, the festival serves as an ode to all law enforcement and public safety officials and others who handled last weekend “with professionalism and grace” according to Amanda Pate.
Some food will be provided and local businesses are encouraged to set up at the event. Sales are prohibited at the event.
