Just about 24 hours after shutting out Wheeler in a Region 2 7-A contest, the Newnan Cougars baseball team kept on rolling, beating Westlake 13-3 in league play in a game called after six innings.
Newnan won for the fourth time in a row and improved its record to 11-4 and 5-0 in region play.
Westlake jumped out in front 1-0 with a run in the top of the first, but the Cougars scored twice in the bottom of the inning.
The Lions tied the game with a run in the top of the fourth, but pushing six runs across the plate in the bottom of the inning the Cougars never trailed again.
The big blow in the bottom of the fourth was Will Wilbanks grand slam. Wilbanks finished the game with five RBIs.
Newnan finished the game with six hits and took advantage of five Westlake runs.
Hamilton and Elliott Schubert each scored twice and Johnny Cash and Woody Waters also scored twice to pace the Cougars offense.
Jake Martin pitched five innings, allowing five hits, six strikeouts and two walks.
James Hawk pitched an inning and struck out two batters.
Newnan returns to action at Wheeler Friday night.

East Coweta, 17, Sandy Creek 4: The East Coweta Indians stepped out of Region 2 7-A competition on Wednesday with a 17-4 home victory over Sandy Creek in a game called after five innings.
East Coweta led 13-4 after three inning, highlighted by a seven-run explosion in the bottom of the third.
The Indians put the game away with their final four runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth.
Ryan Dyal ripped a three-run homer in the bottom of the second and finished the game with five RBIs to pace the Indians’ offense/
Caleb Cashion, William Kelley, Bailey Psathas each had two RBIs.
Three pitchers went to the mound for East Coweta with Peyton Remey getting the win after throwing 2 ⅓ innings and striking out two.
Bryan Crow struckout three and Ethan Walker one in relief for the Indians.
East Coweta returns to region action Friday night at home against Westlake.

Heritage 8, LaGrange Academy 4: The Heritage baseball team scored a run in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back en route to an 8-4 victory.
Heritage out hit LaGrange 17-4.
After building a 5-3 lead in the after five innings, the Hawks put the game out of reach after scoring three times in the bottom of the fourth.
Chandler Restsky picked up the win from the mound, pitching five innings and striking out a batter.
Andrew Rich also pitched two innings and struck out a batter.
Restsky helped his own cause at the plate with three hits and an RBI.
Rich also had two hits and an RBI,
David White added a solo home run in third.
