William Ebbert Evans, 89, of Clarkston, Georgia, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018, after a protracted struggle with prostate cancer.
The youngest of ten children, Ebb, as he was known to family and friends, was born near Moreland, Georgia, in 1928. After graduating from Berry College in 1949, he taught industrial arts at Southwest DeKalb and Druid Hills High Schools before becoming the first director of purchasing for the DeKalb County Board of Education in 1959.
Upon retiring, he devoted his time to raising cattle and serving the Clarkston United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school for over 50 years.
A man who always put family first, he is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Kathleen; his two sons, David (Mary) and Danny (Lorene); and two grandchildren, Alicia and Robert (Katherine).
A memorial service will be held at Clarkston United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018. Funeral services will take place at the McKoon Funeral Home Chapel, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, Ga. 30263, at 2 p.m. on Thursday February 8, 2018. A visitation will be Wednesday February 7, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be at the Southview Cemetery, Harris Street, Moreland, Ga.
