James Leroy Hunter of Moreland, Ga. passed peacefully at home on Thursday, February 8, 2018. He was born April 25, 1937 in Coweta County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mildred Hunter.

He was a lifelong member of White Oak Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. He served as deacon for several years. He retired from William L. Bonnell Company after 40 years of service.

He was an avid Braves fan, loved hunting, fishing and anything outdoors. Gardening, both vegetable and flowers, were high on the list of his favorite things to do.

He is survived by Betty Wheelus Hunter, his wife of 58 years; daughters, Fran (David) Gosch and Darlene Thrower (Charles Shamblee); grandchildren, Hunter Gosch, Alex Gosch (Amanda Mahr), Tara Hefner (Christopher Bassett) and Tiffany Hefner (Matt Brown); great-grandchild, Waylinn Grace Gosch. His surviving siblings are his sisters, Peggy (Louis) Dohanich and Beatrice (Randy) Boswell.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the  White Oak Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 2796 Gordon Road, Senoia, Ga., Mr. Hunter will lie in state at the church Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time. Rev. Winston Skinner and Rev. Jody Thrower will officiate the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St. Newnan, Ga.
