The first person of color to serve on the Coweta County Commission was Wilbon Clay, at left, pictured here in 1993 with Audrey Bray, a local bakery owner and U.S. Congressman Newt Gingrich's local liaison for many years. Clay served one term on the board, including one year as chairman. One of his main priorities was to expand the county water system into underserved areas.
