Area students earn degrees from Georgia State
More than 3,000 students graduated in December from Georgia State University in Atlanta during the fall 2017 semester. Amanda Frederking of Newnan graduated with a master’s degree. Newnan graduates with bachelor’s degrees included Cassie Grooms, Wendy Carlyle, Allison Sullivan, Timothy Weigand, Bianca Stewart, Michael Presley, Michael Trocquet and Luke Oesterle. Newnan graduates with associate degrees included Jheri Hill and Jessica Thomas. Palmetto graduates were Adriana Zuniga, associate degree; Mimi Ware, associate degree; and Aminata Dia, bachelor's degree. Dina Schwam of Senoia earned a doctorate degree. Senoia graduates with bachelor’s degrees included Austin Rose, Jonathan Singh, Matthew Healy and Gerardo Vargas. Bachelor degree graduates from Sharpsburg were Chelsey Horn, Hadir Besirevic, Jason Doan, Alexis Incalcatera, Taraya Philpott and Ethan Sewell.
Velazquez named to Lincoln Memorial dean’s list
Diego Velazquez of Newnan was recognized by Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn. was named to the dean’s list for earning a 3.5 or higher GPA or higher during the fall 2017 semester.
Local Georgia Tech graduates announced
The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta recently presented degrees to undergraduate and graduate students. Area graduates included James Usher of Newnan, bachelor’s degree in business administration; Oliver Daliet of Newnan, bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering; Samantha Finkelstein of Newnan, bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering and Clint Garn of Palmetto, bachelor’s degree in computer science. Senoia graduates included Glenn Goorsky, master’s degree in business administration; and Jenna Ward, bachelor’s degree in literature, media and communication. Sharpsburg graduates were Ryan Alain, bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; Nicolae Hayes, bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; and Tyler Sisk, bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
McLaren earns scholarship to Culver-Stockton
