Former Northgate linebacker James Skalski and his Clemson teammates won’t have a chance to defend their national title next week at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Alabama made sure of that Monday night in the Sugar Bowl with a 24-6 victory over the Tigers to set up an all-SEC contest against Georgia in next week’s championship.
However, Skalski left his mark on the Crimson Tide with a solid effort.
The sophomore linebacker was in on four tackles, including three solos.
Clemson finished the year with a 12-2 record, losing only to Alabama and Syracuse.
Skalski appeared in all 14 games for the Tigers, including making two starts. Skalski finished with 37 tackles for the season, including two for a loss.
