The Northgate and Newnan swim teams competed recently in the Riverwood Invitational.
Northgate finished seventh in boys team standings and ninth in the girls competition, while Newnan was 12th in the girls event and 17th in the boys event.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Northgate’s Reed Ramthun (1:54) finished first and teammate T.J. Pittenger (1:55) finished second.
In the longest race of the meet, Pittenger (5:12) won the 500-yard freestyle.
His Northgate teammate Alex Wathen (6:28) was ninth.
Ramthun (56:26) also finished third in the 100-yard fly.
Northgate’s Lauren Riles (2:09) turned in a solid performance in the girls 200-yard freestyle, finishing in third place.
Riles (5:43) was second in the girls 500-yard freestyle as well.
Newnan’s Bethany Schenck (2:39) finished fifth in the 200 IM. Schenck (6:26) was fifth in the 500-yard freestyle.
In the girls’ 100-yard fly, Jade Takvorian (1:13) touched the wall in ninth place.
Northgate’s Ashley Bratcher (1:05) finished 10th in the 100-yard freestyle. Bratcher (2:28) was 15th in the 200-yard free.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Northgate (56:25) finished fifth with Pittenger, Sam Wessells, Alex Wathan and Ramthun participating in the race.
Newnan’s boys 400-yard freestyle relay (4:47) of Yannick Poweder, Nathan Hewett, James Brannan and Jaxson Jessup finished 15th.
In the girls 400-yard relay, Newnan (5:06) of Bethany Schenck, Ella Devers, Parker Stanhagan and Jordan Young finished 15th.
In the 200-yard medley boys relay, the Northgate (1:55) team of Pittenger, Wessells, Ramthun, and Wathan finished ninth.
Newnan’s 200-medley relay team (2:16) was 20th. Caleb Hayes, Justin Young, Yannick Powder and Anthony Bonomi swam the event for the Cougars.
