Taking part in the installation service at Newnan Presbyterian Church are, from left, Elder Jon Moss, Newnan Presbyterian; Elder Peggy Rowland, Shallowford Presbyterian Church, Atlanta; Christopher Henry, pastor, Shallowford Presbyterian; David Jones, pastor, Newnan Presbyterian; Dr. David Cozad, pastor, Central Presbyterian Church, Atlanta; Darcie Hoffman Jones, wife of David Jones; George Tatro, pastor, Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, Atlanta; Jan Tolbert, interim pastor, First Presbyterian Church, LaGrange.

The congregation of Newnan Presbyterian Church has installed their new pastor, Reverend David Allen Jones II.

In a meaningful worship service and installation ceremony, Jones was installed as the
church’s pastor. Jones is the 11th pastor in Newnan Presbyterian’s rich 189-year history.

Jones’ lifelong friend, Christopher Henry, pastor of Shallowford Presbyterian
Church in Atlanta preached at the installation service, describing Jones’ arrival as a
“new day” for Newnan Presbyterian Church.

Jan Tolbert, former member of Newnan Presbyterian Church, and now interim co-pastor of LaGrange Presbyterian Church, offered a charge to the congregation. She likened the day to a wedding – the beginning of a covenant relationship between congregants
and pastor.

Jones is a graduate of Greensboro College, in Greensboro, N.C., with a bachelor of arts degree in religion. He received his master of divinity degree from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Va.

Jones is the former associate pastor of Shandon Presbyterian Church in Columbia, S.C.

He is married to Reverend Darcie Hoffman Jones of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and they have two children, Laney and Trey.

A reception followed the Dec. 3 installation service in the church’s Barrow Fellowship Hall.
