Mr. Donald Eugene Froseth, 76, a resident of Newnan, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.

Don was born on July 23, 1941 in Garretson, South Dakota, to Gladys Anderson Froseth and Gustav George Froseth, both of whom have predeceased him. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Roger Dean Froseth and Virgil Froseth, and sister. Janice Froseth Gran.
Don was raised in Garretson, and he spent summers working on relatives' farms in Laverne, Minnesota and Brandon, South Dakota – milking cows and caring for chickens and various wildlife. He loved to entertain his family with tales of his childhood on the farm – from encounters with wolves to giant hailstorms to his pet raccoons and roosters.
Following graduation from Garretson High School in 1959, Don joined the U.S. Army in 1960, serving his country in the Korean conflict from 1960-1963 as an SPC E-4, radio operator. It was while in the Army and stationed in Ft. Benning, Georgia that he met and married the love of his life, Karen Bernhard Froseth, to whom he remained married for 54 years.
After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1963, and the U.S. Army Reserves in 1966, Don owned a small, local grocery store in Newnan. Later he worked as an officer for the Newnan Police Department for five years, before accepting a position as an engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation in 1971. He retired from the GDOT in 2002.
Donald attended Westside Baptist Church for 23 years and served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Donna Jean Froseth Boles (Daniel); grandchildren, Kelsie Boles Long (Justin), Andrew Boles, Dylan Norton and Scott Norton; sisters Shirley Thoreson and Diane Wichner (Bob) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Beverly Holman of Pittsburgh, Kansas.
The funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2017 at Westside Baptist Church, 762 Smokey Road, Newnan, GA. with Pastor Alton Midgett and Dr. Melvin Payne officiating. He will lie in state from 1 p.m. until service time. The interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions made to Westside Baptist Church Missions.
