The East Coweta softball team won the GHSA Class AAAAAAA softball title with a perfect 36-0 record nearly a month ago.
Friday afternoon, three seniors from that championship squad signed letters of intent to play college softball at the Division I level.
Rachel Vaughan, who pitched and played first base, will attend the University of South Carolina, Ashlynn Gunter, who played third base will attended Georgia Southern, and Olivia Davis will play for Georgia State.
All three players earned spots on this year’s Newnan Times-Herald All-County Softball Team.
Vaughan batted .444 with four home runs and 24 RBIs. She also went 16-0 from the pitching circle.
Gunter batted .463 with 10 doubles, two triples, six homers and 42 RBIs. Davis helped led the Lady Indians to the state title, batted .369 with 13 RBIs.
“I have had the chance to coach some great teams over the years, and they don’t get any better than this three young ladies,” East Coweta head coach Franklin Deloach said.
