Eastside Elementary School held its annual Christmas concert as a sendoff for students on the last day of school before their holiday break.

The school’s music director, John Shapley, led the Bobcat Chorus in “Galop” and “The Concert Etiquette Rap” prior to this year’s offering, “Let It Be Christmas,” which students presented for friends, family and the school’s faculty.

The Bobcat Chorus sang “Christmas Canon,” and members of the Bobcat Recorder Ensemble – Ashley Duke, soprano; Rileigh Mullen and Alana Arnold, altos; Joey Nelligan and Rylee Wright, tenors; and Kennedy Middlebrooks and McKenzie Smith, basses – played “222T4 the Holidays.”

The groups combined for “Fum, Fum, Fum” before leading those in attendance in a Christmas sing-a-long medley which included “Jingle Bells,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

After winners of the PTO’s silent auction of themed Christmas trees were announced, guest musician Jason Bowen joined the students for a performance of Alan Jackson’s “Let It Be Christmas.”
