East Coweta’s rally falls short

Pebblebrook 58, East Coweta 53: The Falcons scored the last six points of the game in a span of 1:42 and beat East Coweta in the Region 2-AAAAAAA contest in Sharpsburg.

The Falcons led 40-29 with five minutes left in the third quarter.

East Coweta went on a 20-9 run and tied the game at 49-all with 3:33 left in the game, before the Indians closed out the scoring.

Chris Youngblood led East Coweta with 16 points. Jamal Kennedy had 13 points, and Brandon Stroud had 10.

East Coweta dropped to 5-4 overall and 0-2 in the region. Pebblebrook improved to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the region.

Pebblebrook 58, East Coweta 15 (girls): The Lady Indians trailed 33-10 at the half and lost the Region 2-AAAAAAA game at home 58-15.

Pebblebrook’s Milana Holmes scored 20 points, including 14 at the half to pace the Lady Falcons. Jalicia Boss had 12 points for Pebblebrook.

Alex Colton led East Coweta with five points.

Pebblebrook improved to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in region play. East Coweta dropped to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in the region.

Temple 51, Northgate 48 (boys): The Northgate Vikings dropped a heartbreaking non-region loss on the road Tuesday night to the Tigers.

With the loss, the Vikings fell to 2-6. They return to Region 5-AAAAAA action Friday at Creekside.

High School Wrestling:

The Newnan Cougars wrestling team finished the night with a 3-1 victory, beating Tucker 72-12, Wheeler 72-4, and Westlake 72-12, but falling to Luella 41-33.
