Tuesday afternoon, E.R. Snell Contractor plans to make a traffic shift on Poplar Road to the new bridge which spans Interstate 85.
Local law enforcement will be on-hand to assist motorists at Poplar Road and Newnan Crossing By-pass during the shift.
This shift moves traffic to the new bridge.
The traffic shift is part of the project to create a new I-85 interchange at Poplar Road. Once traffic has moved to the new bridge, the old bridge will be demolished. The bridge, and Poplar Road, will become four lanes at the interstate.
E.R. Snell won the contract for the project, with a bid $29,291,770.90, and work began in June of 2016.
The interchange project is on schedule and is expected to open to traffic in early 2019.
