James Bowden Stitcher

James Bowden Stitcher, 91, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Harbor Grace Hospice in Atlanta surrounded by family.

He was born in Coweta County on October 16, 1926 to the late James A. Stitcher and Georgea Richardson Stitcher.

After high school James spent many years serving his country in the armed forces. He began his military career in the U.S. Navy and finally at the end of his 23 years, he retired as a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force.

After retiring from the Air Force, James spent a long career with Walt Disney as a Horticulturist. If he wasn't spending time with his family and friends, James enjoyed wood working.

The funeral service is Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan with Rev. L.B. Rooks officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family received friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

James is preceded in death by the love of his life, Barbara Harris Stitcher, and his brothers, Bill Stitcher and Kenneth Stitcher. He is survived by siblings, Larry Stitcher and Imogene Caswell, and a long list of nieces and nephews.
