First United Methodist Church in downtown Newnan is holding a prayer service this evening (Wednesday)– following a deadly shooting at a Texas church.

Charles Robinson, pastor at First Methodist since June, has organized the service, which is open to the entire community. The service will start at 6:30 p.m. with a short devotion, prayer service and communion.

The sanctuary will remain open for people to stop in to pray.

Devin Patrick Kelley, 26, shot and killed 26 people on Nov. 5 at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Another 20 people were injured.

Kelley was shot by a nearby resident, fled the scene in a vehicle which later crashed and was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds.
