The Piedmont Healthcare System continues to grow in Georgia.
Hospital board members officially acquired Rockdale Medical Center in Conyers on Oct. 1.
Leaders cut a ceremonial ribbon in front of the facility on Tuesday and unveiled a banner displaying the new Piedmont Rockdale marquee. The sign will adorn the East Tower of the hospital.
In August, Piedmont Healthcare officials signed an asset purchase agreement with LifePoint Health and acquired Rockdale Medical Center.
“... Today, we celebrate the beginning of a new chapter,” said Rick Simons, chairman of the board of directors for Piedmont Rockdale Hospital. “In joining Piedmont, we continue our commitment to the community of delivering excellent healthcare close to home.”
Piedmont Rockdale CEO Richard Tanzella agreed. Tanzella has been chief operating officer for Piedmont’s Physician Enterprise. He played an integral part in helping the new Rockdale location expand its cardiovascular services, officials stated.
“... Over the past three years, I’ve gotten to know the area physicians through our clinical affiliation, and I look forward to working with clinicians and staff alike to improve the health and well-being of the Rockdale community,” Tanzella said.
“Through our clinical affiliation with Rockdale, we’ve seen the same dedication to high-quality, patient-centered care that we value at Piedmont and (we) knew this hospital would be a great addition to the Piedmont family,” added Kevin Brown, CEO of Piedmont Healthcare.
The Piedmont Rockdale Hospital is the eighth hospital in the Piedmont Healthcare system.
The other hospitals are located in Newnan, Fayette, Athens, Atlanta, Stockbridge, Covington and Jasper.
