Patricia “Pat” Kathryn Ney, 87, of Newnan, Ga. passed away at 12:41 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on August 20, 1930 a daughter of the late Richard J. Markley and Kathryn Vorce Markley. On October 10, 1953 she married Edward J. Ney from Weston, W. Va. and they celebrated 46 years of marriage before his passing on August 4, 1999.

Her funny, intelligent nature will be carried on by her three children, Michele MacNabb and partner, Babette Fullington, of Newnan, Ga., Dr. Kathryn Ney of Daphne, Ala. and Edward Richard Ney; four grandchildren, Kathryn MacNabb Head, Mary Elizabeth MacNabb, Stacey Phillips and Brooke Hayes; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Richard J. Markley.

Pat graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Social Work, and from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught in elementary schools in Pittsburgh and Las Vegas, with about 20 years of
combined experience. In her younger years she was a talented pianist and harpist, and she enjoyed traveling with her family, taking in new sights and experiences. 

She was the owner of a health food store who was passionate about nutrition and fitness, and took great pride in staying healthy for so many years. She had a special place in her heart for animals and often took in rescues and strays, so they would have a happy healthy home.

She was Catholic by faith.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at St.Patrick’s Catholic Church in Weston with Reverend James R. DeViese Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Weston Masonic Cemetery.
