Newnan Utilities will host 10th annual Autumn Chase

The Newnan Times-Herald

The winding trails around the lakes at Newnan Utilities Carl Miller Park will be the race course for the 10th annual Autumn Chase on Saturday, Oct. 28.

The event is hosted by the Piedmont Newnan Healthcare system. The proceeds will benefit their fitness center at 26 W. Court Square.

“The funds support our community fitness programs and allow us to offer free exercise classes onsite at the fitness center, as well as out in the community,” explained Jessica Griffith, Piedmont Newnan’s marketing and fitness coordinator. “Because the center is not-for-profit, we are able to enhance our equipment and offer more classes.”

The event includes a 15K and 5K trail race, plus a 1-mile fun run and “Tot Trot.”

Griffith said this race is unique to Coweta County.

“Most local races are held in downtown Newnan on the road,” she stated. “The Autumn Chase is a trail race around the beautiful lakes of Newnan Utilities. We could not do it without Dennis McEntire and his wonderful employees at Newnan Utilities … It’s a beautiful race with activities for the entire family.”

Registration is $30 for adults, $10 for kids ages 12 years old and under, $10 for the 1-mile fun run and $2o for the Phantom run.

Each event begins at a different time:

  • 8 a.m. - 15K race

  • 8:30 a.m. - 5K race

  • 9:15 a.m. - 1-mile race

  • 9:30 a.m. - Tot Trot

Folks can sign up for the event at Runsignup.com or email Griffith at jessica.griffith@piedmont.org.
