The Newnan Police Department is helping with the recovery efforts in Brunswick, Ga., in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

The coastal city suffered massive flooding and structural damage during the height of the storm.

NPD is now collecting items to help people salvage personal belongings and clean up the damage Irma left behind.

Anyone wishing to help can drop off donations in the front lobby of the Newnan Police Department at 1 Joseph Hannah Boulevard.

The department will collect donations through Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Bridging the Gap Community Outreach is gathering cleaning supplies for Irma victims. They will turn over their donations to the Newnan Police Department.

They urge folks to drop off donations at the Coweta Strong Ride N’ Cruise event on Saturday, Oct. 7th at the Coweta County fairgrounds between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

People can also leave items at the Bridging the Gap facility at 19 First Avenue.
