This Thursday, the Grantville Coalition of Concerned Citizens will sponsor a candidates’ forum at the Clements-Malcolm Recreation Center, located at 321 Griffin Street.
The forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will give Grantville voters an opportunity to learn more about each candidate’s platform and ask questions of candidates prior to the upcoming Nov. 7 election.
Returning to serve as moderator for the forum is Shirley Hines, Meriwether County commissioner.
Five candidates have qualified for the two seats on the Grantville City Council.
Post 3 is currently occupied by Mark King, who was appointed to fill the unexpired term of David Riley. King has qualified to run for the seat.
Also qualifying for this seat is Barham Lundy, who has served on the city council previously.
Councilman Leonard Gomez, who currently holds the seat in Post 4, is not seeking re-election.
Three candidates have qualified for Post 4. They are: Dee Berry, current chairman of the Grantville Historic Preservation Commission; Sandra Luttrell, past Chairman of the GCCC and a member of the Grantville Recreation Advisory Board; and Alan Wacaser, owner of the Bar W, Feed, Seed, and Supply Store on U.S. Hwy. 29.
