UWG Newnan to hold A Day celebration

The University of West Georgia will celebrate A Day to Give West – UWG’s annual day of activities and fundraising to support the school’s Annual Fund – at the Newnan Campus on Friday, Oct. 13.

The casual-attire event, which will include breakfast, will be held from 8:30-10 a.m. at 80 Jackson Street in Newnan. Among speakers will Dr. Kyle Marrero, president of the University of West Georgia.

Local students named to Georgia State University president’s list

More than 2,000 students were named to the president's list for the 2017 summer semester at Georgia State University in Atlanta. To be eligible for the summer semester president's list, students must earn a 4.0 GPA and complete at least six hours of academic credit with no incompletes. Local students named to the list include Alison McCondichie, Kelly Conner, Michelle Kim, Lauren Travis, Melissa Zacarias, Sara Prescott, Rebekah Williams, Tiffany Pipkin, Jeonghun Im, Samuel Sangster, Charles Stanley, all of Newnan; Alexis Incalcatera, Anna Lauzon, Ameer Tabbaa, Jason Doan, John McGraw and James Pollard, all of Sharpsburg; and Sam Lees of Senoia.

Local students named to Georgia State University dean’s list

More than 2,300 Georgia State University students have been named to the university's summer 2017 dean's list. To be eligible for the summer semester dean's list, degree-seeking students with a minimum GSU cumulative GPA of 2.00 must earn a 3.50 GPA and complete at least six hours of academic credit with no incompletes. Local students who have made the dean's list include Charles Dyer, Catherine Fagan, Alexis Smith, Alyssa Speir, Evan Fleuren, Jackie Brown, Imari Plunkett, Jenish Patel, LaCangy Carter, Kaitlyn Hewett, Matthew Singleton, Wendy Carlyle, Travia Tynes, all of Newnan; Adriana Zuniga of Palmetto; Lily Barron and Victoria Justice, both of Sharpsburg.
