East Coweta whips Wheeler, 49-14

The East Coweta Indians rebounded from their loss to Westlake last week with a huge 49-14 win over the Wheeler Wildcats in Region 2-AAAAAAA football action in Marietta Friday night.

EC improves to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in region play with the victory.

The Indians sprinted to a 35-7 halftime lead and didn't look back. Brayden Carey had three catches for 119 yards and a TD, and Dantarius Chunn had two interceptions on defense. The EC defense caused four Wheeler turnovers while on offense, the Indians threw for 345 yards and rushed for 190.

Indians head coach John Small was pleased with his team’s effort Friday.

“The guys bounced back from a tough loss and showed a ton of character with the way they responded tonight,” Small said. “I’m very proud of them for the way they put last week behind them and moved forward.”

EC hosts Pebblebrook in region action next Friday at 7:30 p.m. in its homecoming game.
