Heritage senior running back Anthony Williams ran for three touchdowns and junior quarterback Henry Arnall threw for a touchdown and ran for one to lead the Hawks to a 59-8 blowout victory over the Holy Spirit Prep Cougars in GISA Region 1-AAA action Friday night in Atlanta.
The Hawks won their second straight game to improve to 4-2 overall, 2-0 in region play, while Holy Spirit fell to 1-5, 0-2.
Heritage started the game with an 80-yard touchdown pass from Henry Arnall to Brandon Scruggs for the 6-0 lead, but the Cougars blocked a Hawks punt out of the end zone for a safety and made the score 6-2.
The Hawks broke the game open in the second quarter. Henry Arnall had a 25-yard TD run, followed by a 5-yard TD run by his cousin Wright Arnall, then two TD runs and a two-point conversion run from Williams. When the smoke cleared, Heritage led 34-2 at halftime.
Williams scored his final TD, a 10-yard run, in the third quarter. Wright Arnall had a 15-yard TD run and two late TDs by Andrew Rich completed the scoring for the Hawks. Holy Spirit scored in the game’s final minutes for the final 59-8 margin.
Heritage defensive stars included Patrick Griffies, who had an interception at the goal line, and Branch Burns with an interception return to the Cougars’ 1-yard line.
The Hawks travel to face region opponent Dominion Christian (1-4, 0-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
