The Grantville City Council will more than likely amend the city’s 2016-2016 budget to reflect actual expenditures and revenue.
The first reaching of the ordinance to amend the budget was read at the council’s special called meeting, which had to be held Thursday because of the tropical storm that swept through Coweta.
City Manager Al Grieshaber said the council can make changes at the end of the year to coincide with actual spending.
The second reading of the ordinance will be held at the council’s next regular meeting on Sept. 25, which is the council can decide to amend the budget.
In addition to the first reading of the budget ordinance amendment, the council also approved a trunk or treat/fall festival to be held in downtown Grantville on Sunday, Oct. 29.
Grantville Police Chief Steve Whitlock said many local churches and citizens support the event and have volunteered to help.
“This will be no cost to the children,” Whitlock said.
Mayor Doug Jewell also read a resolution to commend the honoring of Purple Heart recipients at The Second Annual Chili and Blues Festival that was held on Saturday.
