Flora T. Porter, 76, of Villa Rica died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Wellstar Community Hospice In Austell, Ga.
She was born In Atlanta, Georgia on August 13, 1941, the daughter of the late Milledge Jackson Turbyfield and the late Eula Mae Hembree Turbyfield. She worked as a bus supervisor for MARTA before her retirement. She moved from Lithia Springs to Villa Rica in January 2006.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Calvin Turbyfield, and a sister, Brenda Kennedy.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Everette L. Porter of Villa Rica; her children, Joy Roxann Benefield and her husband, Edward, of Villa Rica, Henry Wade (Hank) Lankford and his wife, Karen, of Hanceville, Alabama and Amanda Lankford Briggs and her husband, Steven, of Dallas, Ga.; her step-daughter, Carla Porter Reich and her husband, Bob, of Birmingham, Alabama; a sister, Joan Elizabeth Westmoreland of Palmetto, Ga.; her precious grandchildren, Melissa Griffin and her husband, Jerard, William Lankford, Travis Lankford, Ryan Briggs, Pierce Benefield and Jaime Briggs; four great-grandchildren, Jalla Griffin, Jordan Griffin, Saleen Lankford and Lilyanna Briggs; a number of nieces and
nephews; and many longtime and very dear friends.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the J. Hoyt Thomas Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Pastor Terry Wofford and Pastor Garry Tanner officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in her memory to Dr. Gary Hedrick, CJF Ministries, P.O. Box 345, San Antonio, Texas 78292-9988.
The family will receive. friends at the funeral home Saturday, September 9, 2017, from 12 noon until the service hour.
In accordance with her wishes, she was laid to rest on Thursday, August 31, 2017, in Floral Hill Cemetery in Palmetto, Georgia with her husband and children In attendance.
