Sons of Jubal will present a free concert at First Baptist Church of Newnan on Thursday at 7 p.m. There will be 220 choir and brass members participating. Sons of Jubal is a male chorus composed of ministers of music and others who serve in music ministries of Georgia Baptist churches.

American Legion Post 57 will hold the annual POW/MIA Day program on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Park at Veterans Memorial Plaza, located at Jackson Street and Temple Avenue.

The Coweta County Republican Women will host a dinner/meeting Sept. 21 at Summergrove Golf Club in Newnan. The dinner will begin 5:30 p.m. with the meeting following at 6:30 p.m. Coweta County Pregnancy Services will be the special guest. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, email

Grantville Mayor Doug Jewell has announced a called meeting for Thursday, Sept. 14 at 6:30 p.m. Because of weather conditions, the regularly scheduled council meeting was canceled on Monday. The meeting will be held at city hall.

The Tractor Supply store in Newnan is looking for farmers, crafters and artisans to sell their homemade and homegrown goods at its Farmers Market on Saturday, Oct. 7. To register, vendors can visit or the store at 90 Marketplace Drive.


Congressman Drew Ferguson will host a job fair on Friday, Sept. 15 from 1:30- 4:30 p.m. at the UGA Griffin Campus Student Learning Center and Stuckey Auditorium at 1109 Experiment St. There will be over 35 employers present. Two careers workshops will also be held at 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.


A reception honoring Dr. Winford L. Hendrix and his wife, Carol, was held during the Sunday school hour at Central Baptist Church on Sept. 10. Dr. Hendrix was completing his time as transition pastor for the downtown church.
