Games, rides and live shows will not be the only events going on this year at the annual Kiwanis Coweta County Fair.
Chefs and bakers - professional and amateur - can test their skills in several cooking competitions.
The contests are for adults and children and will take place throughout the fair.
Here’s a list of the food competitions and regulations:
Adult Creative Birthday Cake Decorating
Sunday, Sept. 24, Fairground Exhibit Hall, 6 p.m.
Cakes must be baked by contestant. They can be round or square, but cannot be bigger than 9 x 13 inches. No more than two cake layers.
The cake must be baked prior to the contest. Participants must bring their own supplies to decorate their cake.
Contestants will have one hour to decorate.
Youth Creative Birthday Cake Decorating
Monday, Sept. 25, Fairground Exhibit Hall, 6:30 p.m.
Children will be judged by age groups: K-3rd grade, 4th - 6th grade, 7th-9th grade and 10th-12th grade.
Contestants will be supplied a baked cake, frosting and tools to decorate their cake. They will be given one hour to wow the judges with their sweet treat.
The cakes will be judged on appearance and decoration.
Gingerbread House Decorating
Sunday, Sept. 24, Fairground Exhibit Hall, 3 p.m.
Participants are provided with the gingerbread houses, frosting and candy. Kids will have 30 minutes to design their gingerbread creation.
Children will be judged by age groups: pre-K - 1st grade, 2nd-4th grade and 5th-7th grade.
Cattlemen’s Steak Cook-Off
Saturday, Sept. 30, Fairground Exhibit Hall, 6 p.m.
Competitors must be 10 years of age and older.
Participants are given an hour and a half to prepare and cook a steak. Flat iron steaks are provided. Contestants must bring all other ingredients and supplies - including a grill.
