Bernard J. Parker died peacefully at his home on Friday, September 8, 2017.
He was born July 3, 1928 in Louisville, Kentucky. Bernard was the only surviving child of eight born to Theodore and Sara McAuliffe. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps after graduating from high school. Later he attended Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
On March 7, 1970 he married Johnnie Boone Askew. He was a devoted, loving husband for 43 years who did everything his wife asked of him.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Barber Pickett and husband Terry of San Francisco, California and Eloise Askew Reynolds and husband David of Newnan, Georgia; grandchildren, Jonathan Pickett, Barton Pickett, Garnet Reynolds and wife Leigh, John Reynolds, Jean Reynolds; great-grandchildren, David Reynolds, Whit Reynolds; nieces, Mary Thigpen, Troy Anne Thigpen, Belle Green.
