White Oak Country Club wins Coweta Cup

The fifth annual Coweta Cup matches between the men's golf associations of the White Oak Country Golf and Country Club and the Newnan Country Club took place on Aug. 5-6.   

Competition was in two-man teams, with six holes played as best ball, six holes as alternate shot, and six holes as singles matches. The Saturday matches were held at the White Oak Golf and Country Club Old Course, and the home team jumped out to a 13.5 point lead.

The Sunday matches were played at the Newnan Country Club. The Newnan team's heroic comeback fell one point short, and the White Oak team successfully defended the cup for the third straight year.
