Police are continuing to gather evidence after an estimated $20,000 worth of landscaping equipment was stolen from the Coweta County Recreation Department.

The missing equipment was discovered on Monday morning, according to Sgt. Greg VanSant with The Newnan Police Department.

The thieves reportedly broke into the area where the equipment was stored and made off with four zero-turn lawnmowers, two tandem axle landscape trailers and multiple pieces of yard equipment like string trimmers and blowers.

Investigators are attempting to obtain surveillance video from nearby businesses in an effort to determine what kind of vehicles were used to steal the equipment and haul the trailers.

VanSant believes the incident occurred over the weekend, but doesn’t have an approximate time at this point.

If you have knowledge of this crime, please contact Sgt. VanSant at 770-254-2355, extension 124.
