Newnan beats Griffin, Whitewater in softball

The Newnan High School softball team put its offense into overdrive Friday night, scoring 32 runs in two games.

Newnan rolled to a 15-2 victory over Griffin in its first game, and then continued to pour it on against Whitewater, winning the contest 17-3.

Against Griffin, Newnan scored two runs in the second, and added 10 runs in the second to put the game out of reach.

The Lady Bears scored their only runs of the game in the top of the fourth.

Newnan added its final three runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth.

The Lady Cougars outhit Griffin 9-4.

Alex Williams and Danielle Curlee each knocked in two runs.

Kaylen Madrey and Addie Andrew drove in one run each.

Curlee finished the game with a double and Hailey Bloom added a triple.

Newnan’s Blythe Bates finished with two strikeouts and Ansley Houston one.

Against Whitewater, Newnan exploded for seven runs in the second, one in the third, and nine in the fourth.

Whitewater scored three times in the third for its only runs of the game.

Ansley Houston finished with a home run and drove in five runs for the Lady Cougars.

Williams, Bloom and Reagan London each drove in two runs. Madrey and Curlee each had an RBI.

Bloom finished with a triple. Adams, Curlee and Marleigh Williamson doubled.

Andrews finished with five strikeouts.
