Mrs. Josephine “Jo” Hearn, 76 of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away on Saturday morning, July 29, 2017 at her residence.   

She was born November 14, 1940, in Carroll County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Hugh Fleming Richards and the late Jessie Bell Arrington Richards.  She was a graduate of Whitesburg High School and attended Crawford W. Long School of Nursing, earning her degree as a Registered Nurse.  

She was retired from Avalon Health and Rehab in Newnan, having served as Director of Nursing. She was a member of Freeman Memorial Methodist Church, and served as pianist, for many years, in the music ministry of her church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers: Dennis Richards and Bill Richards, and a sister, Barbara Sue Taylor.  

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Rev. Jim Hearn of Whitesburg; children, James Hearn of Dahlonega, Georgia and Jeffery Hearn of Whitesburg; sisters and brothers-in-law: Kay and Forrest Byram of Heard County, and June and Ronnie Musick of Whitesburg; four nieces and five nephews.   

Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 31, 2017 at 2 p.m. from St. Paul Methodist Church near Whitesburg with James Wilson and Winston Skinner officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Jamie Ward, Jeremy Ward, Mike Musick, Andy Musick and Brian Colin serving as pallbearers.  The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 p.m.
