Fleckenstein undefeated with minor league club

Former Northgate High School and LaGrange College pitcher Jonathan Fleckenstein’s pro career with the High Desert Yardbirds of the Independent Pecos League in California is earning high marks.

Fleckenstein has appeared in 15 games for the Yardbirds and has a record of 3-0.

The right-handed pitcher has a 3-0 record and a ERA of 3.37. Fleckenstein has pitched 24 innings for the Yardbirds, striking out 29 batters and walking nine.

Fleckenstein helped the LaGrange College baseball team through one of its best seasons ever last spring when it went 40-6 and was ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division III poll late in the regular season.

Fleckenstein pitched in 24 games for LaGrange, finishing with a 6-1 record and five saves. He enjoyed solid control from the mound, striking out 49 and walking five.

During his high school career at Northgate, he was named to The Newnan Times-Herald’s All-County Team. Fleckenstein was also named the Vikings’ best pitcher his senior year.
