Local branches of the Bank of North Georgia will soon take on the name of its parent company Synovus, joining 27 other divisions in the Southeast.
The Bank of North Georgia, once known locally as the Bank of Coweta, has three locations in Newnan and one in Senoia. Synovus has nearly 250 branches throughout the Southeast, according to its website.
The Synovus name already appears on customer’s debit cards, online banking, statements and company ATMs, and the company has already begun notifying customers about the change.
Bank of Coweta was founded in the early 1970s. The bank was acquired by Synovus in 1986, according to Synovus External Communications Manager Lee Underwood.
According to Underwood, Bank of Coweta adopted the Bank of North Georgia name in 2013.
He said Bank of North Georgia branding and signage will change to Synovus in the first quarter of 2018, possibly February.
Synovus was recently named the “Most Reputable Bank” in the U.S. in the annual Survey of Bank Reputations conducted by Reputation Institute and published by American Banker.
Synovus ranked first overall, first among non-customers and in the top ten among customers. Synovus was ranked second overall in 2016.
