It’s only the third week of the Thursday Thunder racing series at Atlanta Motor Speedway, but Senoia teenager Joshua Hicks could be well on his way to a victory-filled summer.
Hicks races in both the Bandolero Outlaw Division and the Legend Pro Series at Thursday Thunder and is finding plenty of success in both.
However, it is in the Outlaw Division where, after two weeks, he has become the man to beat.
Hicks has taken one checkered flag and also has a top-five finish, and that has helped him take a double-digit lead in the points standings.
Hicks has tallied 197 points after two weeks of racing and leads second-place driver Blaise Maddox by 13 points. Maddox also has one checkered flag so far this season.
Michael Gannon is keeping things close and enters the third week of the season just 14 points behind Hicks.
Hicks is also among the top six drivers in the Pro Division. In the first two weeks of racing the Pro Division, Hicks has finished with one top-five and two top-10s.
That’s good enough for sixth place and 28 points behind leader Jensen Jorgensen who has won both races and has 200 points. Matthew Barnard and Corey Heim are tied for second with 188 points. Bubba Harry has 180 points, and Dawson Fletcher 176.
In other divisions at Thursday Thunder, Harrison Halder leads the Young Lions with 197 points, six points in front of Cale Hall.
Brandon Brock leads the Semi-Pro Division with 197 points and has a 12-point lead over Rafe Slate.
Three racers are within nine points of each other in the Masters. Scott Moseley leads the division with 197 points, but is only three points ahead of Bill Plemmons. Mark Swan is in third place with 188 points.
Kenneth Henderson has 197 points and owns a three-point lead over Grant Thompson in the Bandits Division.
