A group of local dog owners and their dogs recently graduated from the Dog Obedience Training class, sponsored by the Coweta County Recreation Department.

Class graduates were given awards upon completion of the course. Winners included Brian Ferguson and Lexi in first place; Shah George and Koda in second place; Annette Tomasi and Tirzah in third; and Andie Scruggs and Remi in fourth place.

Over the course of 10 weeks, owners and their dogs participated in courses to improve the dog's behavior, such as following commands, healing on a leash and socialization.

The next beginner dog obedience course will start in August 2017.  Dogs enrolled in the class must be at least five months of age to participate.
