Police have identified the man who died Sunday afternoon in a drowning accident in Peachtree City.

James A Coverson, 32, of Luthersville, was pronounced dead at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, according to Peachtree City Police Department spokesperson Lt. Odilia Bergh.

Prior reports had identified the victim as a 25-year-old male from Newnan.

On Sunday, police said 911 received a call at approximately 6:45 p.m. from a woman who said her boyfriend was swimming underwater in Lake Peachtree and never resurfaced.

The caller said she and her boyfriend had been attempting to get to the area of Drake Field near the Ga. Highway 54 bridge, said Bergh.

Bergh said emergency personnel performed CPR on Coverson before transporting him to Piedmont Fayette Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
