Molestation suspect behind bars

Earl Rayford Cannon Sr.

An Arnco man charged with child molestation was denied bond during his first-appearance hearing Wednesday.

Magistrate Judge Robert Stokely denied bond to Earl Rayford Cannon Sr., 52, after he was taken into custody in Carroll County and transported to the Coweta County Jail.

According to investigators, Cannon allegedly asked an 8-year-old to perform a lewd act in April 2017. The juvenile refused and later told a family member about the incident, according to Chief Deputy James Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.

Cannon is not related to the victim, according to police, but was in her presence for several years while he was a guest in her home.

During questioning, Cannon allegedly admitted to propositioning the juvenile and admitted he may have been under the influence of drugs, Yarbrough said.
