Homer Melton Phillips, 79, of Newnan, Ga., died peacefully at home with family at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017.
He was born in Hapeville, Ga., August 26, 1937, to the late Zed Phillips and Daisy Ruth Duke Phillips, being one of nine children.
Mr. Phillips was a proud U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean conflict. After his military service, he was employed at Delta Airlines and retired after 29 years in 1992.
Surviving are his wife, Connie Sue Perry Phillips; two sons, Homer Dean Phillips, Acworth, Ga., Edward Luther Phillips II, McDonough, Ga.; a daughter, Lois Diane Phillips, Atlanta, Ga.; two stepsons, Kevin Perry and his wife Lisa, Shannon Perry; a stepdaughter, Tera Mowery and her husband Daren. He is further survived by brothers, Lon David Phillips, Robert Lewis Phillips, William Carter Burrell, Franklin Albert Phillips; sister, Betty Joyce Huggins; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents Mr. Phillips is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Ickes Phillips; their daughter, Lori Dee Anderson; sister, Patsy Ruth Broome; and two brothers, Horace Zed Phillips and Edward Luther Phillips.
In accordance with Mr. Phillips’ wishes, there will be a private memorial service for the immediate family.
