Mitchell named to UWG’s dean’s list
Katie Mitchell, daughter of Greg and Colleen Mitchell of Newnan, has been named to the dean’s list at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton.
Mitchell, a sophomore student-athlete, earned a 4.0 GPA for spring semester. A member of the Wolves soccer team, she also has racked up several athletic honors in her two years at UWG. Mitchell was named Second Team D2CCA All-South Region Squad and Third Team NSCAA All-South Region Squad. She is ranked second in all-time soccer assists for a single season at UWG.
White earns degree from Duke University
Christopher Michael White of Sharpsburg was among 5,300 students who received undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees during Duke University’s recent commencement ceremony.
White was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in visual and media studies.
Kia donates car to West Georgia Tech
West Georgia Technical College recently received a 2014 Kia Optima by Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia for use in its automotive technology program.
Students in the program will train on the car at WGTC’s Carroll Campus, where they are preparing for automotive service and repair careers.
Kia has provided automotive technology programs at several WGTC campuses with a total of four midsize sedans, two crossover SUVs and a global diagnostic system.
