It’s safe to say the Northgate baseball team has Region 5-AAAAAA opponent New Manchester’s number.
The Vikings outscored New Manchester 31-2 this week, beating them 15-0 at on Monday and rolling to a 16-2 victory in Wednesday’s rematch on the road.
Northgate’s Patrick Pitzer started Wednesday’s offensive fireworks with a three-run homer in the top of the first as part of a seven-run inning.
From there, the Vikings slowly increased the lead on the scoreboard with single runs in the second and third. Northgate added two runs in the fourth and five in the seventh.
New Manchester prevented its second straight shutout against the Vikings by scoring twice in the fifth inning.
Pitzer and Travis Love finished with three RBIs. Robert Smith and Christian Dyer had two RBIs each.
Conner Mask, Alex Cawood, Nick Lavelle, Ryder Willard and Donovan Devane each had an RBI.
Lavelle finished the game with a triple, and Love and Dyer both doubled.
Three pitchers combined for 17 strikeouts for Northgate. Corbitt Cimadevilla led the way with eight. Nick Kempf had five and Tyler Rhein four.
East Coweta 15, Campbell 0: The East Coweta Indians needed just three innings to beat Region 2-AAAAAAA opponent Campbell 15-0 in a game called by the mercy rule.
The Indians celebrated the region win by scoring four times in the first and six times in the second to build the double-digit lead.
For good measure, East Coweta closed out the contest with five more runs in the bottom of the third. The Indians outhit Campbell 10-1.
Eight of East Coweta’s runs were unearned.
Cameron Jackson led the way for the Indians’ offense with two RBIs.
Mason Frady, who normally spends his time pitching for the Indians and doesn’t get too many chances to bat, finished with a double and an RBI.
Brandon Frost, Ethan Darrow, Trevor Gaddy and Calvin Boyd had RBIs for the Indians. Darrow added a triple, and pitcher Cody Rodgers had six strikeouts for East Coweta.
