Joe M. Kieve, 73, of Newnan, Georgia died Wednesday, April 19, 2017.
Born in Albany, Ga., Joe moved to Atlanta after completing a B.S. in education from Georgia Southern College. He taught industrial arts at Briarwood High School in Fulton County before joining Delta Air Lines. He retired from Delta’s carpenter shop but never lost his passion for woodworking.
Joe is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dale Kennedy Kieve; their two children, Jay Kieve (Melanie) of Anderson, South Carolina and Mary Jo Hollis (Barry) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Jesse Kieve, Riley Hollis, Emma Kieve, and Rachael Hollis; a sister, Ann Kieve Dixon Kennedy of Eufaula, Alabama; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Joe was a member of the East Point Masonic Lodge No. 288 and of Heatherwood Baptist Church in Newnan, Ga. He expressed his deep faith by serving four churches as a lay leader and youth Sunday School teacher, often reminding his students to "remember who you are and whose you are!"
Funeral services under the direction of the Parrott Funeral Home of Fairburn, Ga. will include family visitation at the funeral home on Friday, April 21 from 5-8 p.m. at Parrott Funeral Home, a worship service at Heatherwood Baptist Church, 721 Shenandoah Blvd., Newnan, GA 30265 on Saturday. April 22 at 11: a.m. with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 5755 Mallory Rd., College Park, Ga. Officiating are the Reverend Drs. J.W. Wallis, and Jay Kieve.
Memorial gifts may be sent to the “building fund” of Heatherwood Baptist Church.
