Shorter University honors Newnan students

Three Newnan residents recently received special recognition during Shorter University’s Awards Day, which included the presentation of awards of distinction to seniors who excelled in their major areas.

The local students, honored by Shorter’s College of Arts and Sciences, were Erin Nordman, who received the Biology Award; Anthony Nordman, who received the Political Science Award; and Kathryn Walker, who received the Spanish Award.

Winslett inducted Into Mercer Phi Beta Kappa chapter

Andrew Michael Winslett of Newnan was one of 29 students in Mercer University’s College of Liberal Arts to be inducted into the Zeta of Georgia Chapter of The Phi Beta Kappa Society recently. Winslett is a senior majoring in political science and law and public policy.

Skaggs recognized during UNG student awards

Erin Skaggs of Newnan was one of the more than 300 students recognized by the University of North Georgia. Skaggs earned the Siler Scholar Award. Ceremonies included a variety of awards designed to recognize academics, community engagement, leadership, student involvement, and other achievements.
