The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m., therefore inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

Alamo Jacks, 19  W. Court Square, Newnan - was inspected Mar. 13, 2017 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector's comments: Bags of flour and sugar stored rolled down on rack - moved container. Corrected on site. Employee’s Jacket stored on food-moved to proper location.

China One, 487 Jackson St., Ste. 109, Newnan - was inspected Mar. 22, 2017 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector's comments: Return lids to food container stored in freezer. Mold on cooler gaskets.

El Taquito, LLC, 1389 S Highway 29, Newnan - was inspected Mar. 23, 2017 and received a score of 87-B. Inspector's comments: Shell eggs stored above produce and cooked rice. Raw shrimp stored in box on top of tomatoes. Several foods are not date marked, and some foods are improperly date marked.

Golden’s On The Square, 9 E Court Square, Newnan - was inspected Mar. 13, 2017 and received a score of 97-A. Inspector's comments: thawing chicken in stagnant water.

Greater Bethlehem Temple Ministries, 1608 Hwy 29 N, Newnan - was inspected Mar. 22, 2017 and received a score of 92-A. Inspector's comments: First Aid kit stored in drawer with packages of seasonings. Open bag of sugar stored in cabinet. Open bags of flour and rice stored on shelf. Box of cup lids stored on floor – moved to shelf. Corrected on site.

Healthy Foods Cafe, 33 Broad St. E, Newnan - was inspected Mar. 20, 2017 and received a score of 93-A. Inspector's comments: Cooked foods stored in cooler not date marked, and raw meats not stored on bottom shelf of cooler. Need sneeze shield for self-service foods.

NCG Cinema, 55 Fischer Crossing BLVD, Sharpsburg - was inspected Mar. 22, 2017 and received a perfect score of 100-A.

Wishbone Fried Chicken, 32 Jefferson St, Newnan - was inspected Mar. 10, 2017 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector's comments: Cracked floor tiles, low grout in some areas.

Zaxby’s, 759 Bullsboro DR, Newnan - was inspected Mar. 20, 2017 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector's comments: Ice build up on walk-in freezer floor.
