The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m., therefore inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

Checkers/Auntie Pretzels, 1025 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan, was inspected Feb. 22, 2017 and received a score of 92-A. Inspector’s comments: Dried food particles on slicer, food particles on freezer gaskets, eggs not stored on lower shelf of cooler, light shield loose inside walk-in cooler, need sanitizer strip test.

Contemporary Catering, 25 Herring Road, Newnan, was inspected Feb. 21, 2017 and received a score of 97-A. Inspector’s comments: Eggs stored on top shelf of cooler - moved to bottom shelf.

Coweta County Correctional Facility, 560 Greison Trail, Newnan, was inspected Feb. 21, 2017 and received a score of 97-A. Inspector’s comments: split gasket on reach-in cooler door and mold on gaskets, dust on ceiling, dried crumbs on non-food contact surface of slicer, leak at sink drain pipe.

Dynasty, 34 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan, was inspected Feb. 21, 2017 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector’s comments: Chicken stored above eggs and split gasket on reach-in cooler doors.

G II Enterprises LLC DBA Heavy’s, 10 The Boulevard Suite 101, Newnan, was inspected Feb. 22, 2017 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: Food not received at proper temperature, not at proper cold holding temperatures, not at proper hot holding temperatures, improper reheating procedures for hot holding, improper cooking time and temperatures.

Jefferson Parkway Elementary, 154 Millard Farmer Industrial Boulevard, Newnan, was inspected Feb. 8, 2017 and received a perfect score of 100-A.

My Chef MeI, 75 Frances Shirey Way, Newnan, was inspected Feb. 22, 2017 and received a perfect score of 100-A.

Waffle House #888, 1363 Highway 29 S., Newnan, was inspected Feb. 20, 2017 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector’s comments: Cooler condensation leak in bowl of boiled eggs – eggs later discarded. Rusted screws inside ice machine, rusty walk-in cooler floor.

Canongate On White Oak Clubhouse, 141 Clubview Drive, Newnan, was inspected Feb. 28, 2017 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: Dust on walk-in freezer fan cover, dust on some vent grates.

Corner Cafe, 1485 Highway 34 East, Suite 7A, Newnan, was inspected Feb. 28, 2017 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: stained ceiling tile.

Maguire’s Family & Friends, 42 Main Street, Senoia, was inspected March 2, 2017 and received a score of 91-A. Inspector’s comments: salmon cakes at 48 degrees F stored in bottom of prep top cooler, ham at 54.3 degrees F, turkey at 47 degrees F, pastrami at 59 degrees F, raw hamburgers at 51.2 degrees F stored in cooler drawers; coleslaw 51.5 degrees F, spring rolls 47.1 degrees F.

Marco’s Pizza, 1111 Bullsboro Drive, Suite 4, Newnan, was inspected Jan. 27, 2017 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: rusted shelves and buildup in gaskets.

Meat-N-Greet, 11 Jefferson St., Newnan, was inspected Jan. 27, 2017 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector’s comments: soda nozzles found with old buildup – consider replacing and food particles found on clean dishes.

McDonald’s, 1425 Highway 29 S., Newnan, was inspected Jan. 27, 2017 and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: buildup around the bottom of equipment, buildup in gaskets, old labels left on the outside of clean dishes, and tiles need re-grouting in back.

McDonald’s, 2907 Georgia Highway 85, Senoia, was inspected March 2, 2017 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: Split gaskets on cooler doors, food particles on gaskets, dust on top of cooler near drive-thru window, and exposed light bulbs inside walk-in freezer, cracked light shield.

Nic & Norman’s, 20 Main Street, Senoia, was inspected March 3, 2017 and received a score of 93-A. Inspector’s comments: Pink mold on damp area of ice machine, food particles on knife on magnetic strip – moved to dish area; sanitizer in middle compartment of three-compartment sink at bar, and pasta 67.5 degrees F stored in plastic bags stacked in large container for cooling – moved to flat sheet pans for proper cooling.

Oasis Bar & Grill, 11 Spence Ave., Newnan, was inspected Jan. 27, 2017 and received a score of 90-A. Inspector’s comments: raw meats stored above open containers of onions in bottom of prep top cooler, cup stored in guacamole, and wet-stacked containers stored on drain board of three-compartment sink.

Smokey Road Middle School Cafeteria, 965 Smokey Road, Newnan, was inspected Jan. 27, 2017 and received a perfect score of 100-A.
